Trip Report: Gardunio’s (or, how I almost got my first tattoo)

So I’m listening to the latest TVT podcast (#104), and I couldn’t help it, I have to write a post about what is now my favorite brunch location in the whole world: Gardunio’s in The Palms. The food was great, the music was good, and the all-you-can-drink margaritas were even better.
I’m going to do my best to recount the events that transpired during our visit to Gardunio’s; however, when you drink lots and lots of margaritas before noon, the whole day kind of becomes a blur. We arrived at around 11:00am or so, and before we were even seated we met a gentleman who not only thought we were cute, but he was hilarious! I swear he was on the phone with his girlfriend back home the whole time; he held his phone up to the live music, a mariachi band, so she could hear.
When I got back home and had my Jenny Craig weigh-in, I had discovered that my week in Vegas had cost me an additional 5 pounds, and I’m sure at least 4 of them came from Gardunio’s. The food was really great – especially the French Toast. Listen to the TVT podcast # 104 and you can hear Mark & Sazzy talk about the French Toast.
I remember that the more margaritas I drank, the more I believed I could speak Spanish. I remember trying to ask for something in Spanish, and the waiter simply poured me another margarita. Whatever I said must have meant I needed another drink. I probably did ask for another one, I’m not sure, but the margarita seemed to work well. :)
Anyway, we ate and drank until well into the afternoon, and then decided to go play blackjack. I must have done well; Mark says I kept making money. I remember a player next to me, who I desperately wanted to buy a blackjack book and give it to him.
Somehow, the conversation turned to tattoos, and I decided that a part of my personality needed to be documented on my epidermis. I was excited about the possibility of getting my first tattoo; however, something in the back of my mind told me I might want to wait. I’m not sure if it was Mark reminding me that this was permanent, or whether it was a promise to my friend back home (Heidi Spanksalot) that I would get my first tattoo with her. Either way, I ended up backing out… :(
Anyway, Gardunio’s is a really great place for brunch! Go there, drink lots of margaritas, and try their French toast – it’s wonderful!
